Tu
Guosheng
Tu Guosheng stands as a titan in the world of contemporary Chinese ceramics. As a Senior Arts & Crafts Artist and a recognized Master of Ceramic Art, his career is a testament to the enduring power of Jingdezhen's millennia-old traditions fused with modern artistic sensibilities.
Born in 1959 in Nanchang, Jiangxi, Tu graduated from the Ceramic Fine Arts Department of the prestigious Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute in 1983. He has spent decades refining a style that is uniquely his own, balancing technical mastery with profound emotional expression.
"My brushwork captures the desolate beauty of winter mountains—cold yet full of life."
While proficient in various techniques, he is most renowned for his "Snow Scenery" (雪景) series in Blue and White (Qinghua) and Pastel (Fencai). His brushwork captures the desolate beauty of winter mountains—cold yet full of life, vast yet intimately detailed.
His works are not merely decorative vessels but carriers of literati culture, often evoking the poetic solitude found in traditional Chinese ink wash paintings. Today, his pieces are collected by major museums and discerning private collectors worldwide, serving as a bridge between ancient heritage and contemporary art.
